Will The Man Get An Update?

Hey everyone!

First, let me thank all of you for the warm welcome you’ve made to the game. I’ve received quite a few haikus from both friends and complete strangers, and it warmed my heart.

I also got some very useful feedback, and realized that perhaps a small update would be nice, to make the game as good as it was meant to be.

Nothing too fancy, just enough so that I can call it “finished”, and move on with my other projects. It could come out as early as next week or after, depending on many factors including me being lazy.

Here is what I plan to do. If you have any feedback or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment!

• More backgrounds

I planned to have at least one background per season, but I ran out of time during the jam. I’ll be fixing that, and maybe add a few more if I can.

• More words

the game had about 300 words on launch. To have more variety and expressivity, I plan to extend it to ~1000 words.

• Better words

Some people found it really difficult and frustrating to express themselves or even make sense. I’d like to reduce this frustration, while keeping the randomness and playfulness of the game intact. I aim not to have less constraints, but better constraints. I want to find ways to regroup and/or make available more small words that are needed to build sentences: adverbs, conjunctions, pronouns, prepositions, etc.

I still need to figure out the exact way to do that, but I have a few leads. We shall see.

• A sort button for your words

• Punctuation!

Add “.” or “!”, or even “?” at the end of each line! Cool, right?

• Anything else?

Probably. Maybe. At least lots of small quality of life improvements. Feel free to suggest more!
